Car care products: Mothers Reflections Advanced Wax vs. Turtle Wax

When I stumbled upon Waxstation.com on the recommendation of someone on a Honda board a while back, I didn't realize just how lucky I was at the time. What I heard from the sales reps & owner at Wax Station - who deal almost exclusively in detailing products made by Mothers - is that Reflections Advanced Wax goes on easy, buffs off easy, and leaves a lasting shine. I didn't know quite what that meant until I used Reflections for years, and then tried to wax my sister's car the other day with some Turtle Wax product that I can't even find on their site at the moment (this link gives you the closest product I could find).

The Turtle Wax polish went on fairly easily, but not nearly as easily as Reflections - not by a mile. It did behave when being pushed around by the microfibre waxing cloth I used (no automatic buffers here - I do it by hand). So okay, step 1 (after using some Mother's Pre-Wax Cleaner on certain areas that looked particularly dirty - remember, there was no existing coat of wax to strip off) was finished.

Buffing off the haze was a bit of a tough task when compared to how the product went on. Keep in mind her Accord is a smaller car than my Benz, thus there's less of an area to wax, so the amount of time it took me to wax the car was shorter. I also ensured her car was NOT in direct sunlight.

When I took a clean cloth to try to buff out the haze, it was like I had covered the car with Rain-X and had left it out in the sun too long. It was simply impossible to get it all off, and streaks abounded. Even on 100% dry panels, streaking still occurred because I couldn't put enough pressure on the paint to get that gunk off! It was very disappointing after I had worked hard to get the stuff on. I'll have to go fix it this week by using some Mothers wax.

Overall, I'd give that Turtle Wax product a huge thumbs down when compared to Mothers waxes I have used.

  1. Thanks for visiting my blog. I posted this in reply to your comment, (in case you do not get back there soon)

FJ--This country belongs to us, not to those who wish to take over and establish a culture that is hostile to the family, to free enterprise,to personal prosperity, to homeschooling and to marriage, to creativity, to the Christian values found in the Bible. One way to preserve our freedom is to exercise it. Our music, which was about our country, is being replaced by "noisic" which is hostile to life and godliness. While we are thankful for the music passed on to us by our forefathers, we wonder what the next generation will say about the 20th century moderns who plagued the world with such noisic. Our people used to sing about our valleys (songs like Shenendoah, for example) and our rivers and oceans and mountains, our families ("BaBY gIRL," BY THE rALpH sTANLEY BAND, OR "How I long to see the Old Folks," etc) and they were all about America. Now the songs are base. It is hard for the next generations to sing of love, when their lives are so filled with anti-family, anti-God, anti-country hatred, foisted on them by modernity. "

I read somewhere on the web an article called "Why is all the good music gone, and the bad music promoted?" which showed how certain wealthy people gave the untalented artists big breaks and made it impossible for people who really had talent, to become famous. It showed how they did the same thing with movies by not supporting those that had good American values in them, and promoting those which would break down society.

  2. Hi there Lydia

Feel free to visit my Corrupt.org blog to publish replies. If I spam my Corrupt.org blog (which I can't link to) on your site, I fear you may not post my replies, which is fine & makes total sense. My family blog can be found at:

The unfortunate thing about our once-great nation is that there is no culture left. Whether those values were meant to be & stay Christian, the fact of the matter is, people don't agree on anything anymore. I hesitate to blame power mongers who promote certain media, though I do agree that's a part of the problem. And I agree that problem exists and should be eliminated.

If there are communities in America that do not want to live by strictly Christian values, I think they should feel free to find a spot in this beautiful land and live their values within their own borders. Likewise, I would like to live in a small society of a few thousand people under the tenants of New Pedestrianism - more biking and walking, communities with shared parks & living spaces, smaller houses and less "shutting in"...you know, good solid values which keep people interacting and knowing each other. Again, Christian or not, these values are solid and should be promoted, but in our "tolerate everything except intolerance of the lowest common denominator" attitude society, we've lost any semblance of a higher good/value/purpose. One can only hope we return to a strong set of values in the future.

  3. Once you have polished the paint and removed the imperfections, scratches, halo’s, swirls, etc. Then you can wax or seal it. Waxing a car works very well to improve the look, as does a sealant, however, a sealant will last longer.Car Wax Products
